Applying To Become A Potential Driving Instructor

How to apply to become an ADI

Firstly you will need to apply to the DVSA to register as a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI). You can do this online or by downloading an application form below. Register online now as a Potential Driving Instructor Download the ADI application form When you apply to become a PDI you will be asked to declare that you have read the ADI starter guide 'Your guide to the approved driving instructor register' sometimes referred to as the ADI 14. What you will need

You can apply online to become a PDI with the DVSA. This service is available between 06:00 and midnight and you will need the following information in order to complete your application:

  • full driving licence number
  • criminal record disclosure number, and the date the disclosure was produced
  • details of any motoring or non-motoring offences, and disqualifications from driving
  • details of any pending court cases brought against you
